Fun Way to Study the State of Illinois History!

February 27, 2018 – Allison Murdock

5 out of 5 stars

There are three major features that I like about this book. I love the fact that the story of the state of Illinois is told with newspaper articles as if the events happened yesterday. I feel like this feature gives even reluctant readers a more entertaining way of learning the history of Illinois. I also love the six-foot fold-out timeline from 1810-the present day. It highlights many events ranging from sports and adventure to politics and civil rights. And finally, as a former educator, I have to mention there is an Educator’s Guide sold separately or available as a free downloadable PDF. The guide is packed full of activity ideas to enhance the teaching of state history, and it is also mapped to Illinois ELA and Social Science Standards.
