School Visits and INSET Training
What on Earth? workshop facilitators Christopher Lloyd and John Gordon-Reid give high energy, creative timeline workshops both at primary and secondary level across the entire curriculum including history, nature, science, sport and Shakespeare. INSET workshops are designed for schools interested in developing a more cross-curricular, narrative approach to learning. We also specialise in visiting home education groups.
World history author Christopher Lloyd is a longstanding regular for giving family and adult talks at museums and festivals all over the UK and abroad. Festival appearances include Hay, Chalke Valley, Bath, Cheltenham, Oxford, Woodstock, Marlborough, Henley. Overseas appearances include the Jaipur International Book Festival, Gibraltar Literary Festival and PINC Sarasota (USA). Christopher has also given talks at the Natural History Museum, Science Museum, Linnaean Society, The Royal Institution, The Royal Geographical Society (Xmas lecture 2013).
Speech Days and Parent’s Evenings
Connecting the dots of knowledge is one thing, but creating a shared learning experience between pupils, teachers and parents is just as important. Wherever possible we encourage schools to consider inviting parents at the end of a workshop day to see for themselves the beauty of the interconnectedness of knowledge.
Activity Days and Trails
What on Earth Publishing has developed a range of activity / trails for use at festivals and events (Indoor and outdoor). Our new Quiz Stop challenge involves 10 large bus stops, each with a question. The correct answer is somewhere on the bus stop graphics and the first letter of the correct answer on each stop reveals a secret codeword. Crack the code and win a prize!
