"The ‘lift the flaps’ were great fun, but also very informative and they certainly added to the interest of the book … The illustrations are also wonderful and, in fact, make this book something of a showpiece. The drawings are fun, yet accurate and life-like, adding to the educational value of the book. I would certainly give this as a gift for a birthday or Christmas, to any budding little scientist or lover of animals. All in all a hugely successful read and one that I will revisit again and again when teaching the children about our senses in science."
“In this fascinating book the reader is invited to ‘take a fresh sniff at the world from an animal’s perspective’ and explore the different roles that a sense of smell plays in shaping animal behaviour and relationships … Supported by full-colour illustrations, the reader’s interest is further sustained through the use of flaps which when lifted often reveal surprising facts … This book sits comfortably in a primary classroom and has the potential to generate some interesting discussions. There is just the right amount of detail and scientific vocabulary and the layout breaks the information into appropriate sized chunks. A welcome addition to any non-fiction library.”
"Wonderfully entertaining and informative...An ingenious, interactive way of learning that is not to be sniffed at."
"While sharing fascinating facts about the animal kingdom and answering such questions as why female mosquitoes are so attracted to our skin, this engaging book is also likely to stimulate many readers' natural curiosity to find out more"
