The Sounds of Science premiered on 30th March at the Queen’s Hall in Edinburgh
as part of the Edinburgh International Science Festival
The next performance will take place at
The Cheltenham Science Festival on 9th June 2017
The Sounds of Science is a three-way collaboration between solo percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie, composer Jill Jarman and Wallbook author Christopher Lloyd. The project aims to demonstrate how a narrative timeline can be conveyed effectively through a soundscape.
They have taken 93 moments from the What on Earth Wallbook of Science & Engineering that charts more than 1,000 inventions and discoveries stretching from the Stone Ages to the present day. The 93 moments are featured in a 21-minute composition that uses orchestral and sample sounds with a solo percussion performance.
A second performance of the amazing piece took place at the world famous
HAY LITERARY FESTIVAL at 6.30pm on Sunday 5th June 2016.
