I have been passionate about history since boyhood, and studied Modern History at St John’s College, Oxford University. I was a senior newspaper editor at The Sunday Times in London and at the Daily Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph I was Executive Editor and later Deputy Editor. As a reporter, I won a number of prestigious media awards for campaigns and investigations. I have chaired numerous events at literary festivals in Britain and internationally. I have written several non-fiction works, including three U.S. state histories for What On Earth Books. I am delighted to be involved with these state histories, which comprise not only informative timelines of key events but also entertaining newspaper-style articles written as if the events have just happened – a style I am more than familiar with!
