Encyclopaedia Britannica and What on Earth Publishing Announce New Children’s Non-fiction Imprint
August 07, 2019Chicago, IL and Tonbridge, UK, August 7, 2019:
Britannica Group, a company committed to transforming education globally, has joined forces with What on Earth Publishing, an international independent children’s non-fiction publisher, to launch Britannica Books, a new fun-reference imprint. Both companies’ missions emphasize inspiring children’s curiosity and passion for learning. The first list will come to market worldwide in Fall 2020 and will publish 5-10 titles per year for children ages 3-14.
Sal De Spirito, SVP of Marketing and Business Development at Britannica Group, said:
“Our goal is to help children engage deeply with content through multiple mediums and What on Earth Publishing is the perfect partner to help us raise the bar in the print space because of our common commitment to help children find joy in learning.”
Commenting on the partnership, Christopher Lloyd, bestselling author and Founder and CEO of What on Earth Publishing, said:
“We know that for many children the real world is far more amazing than anything you can make up. It is with this sense of wonder that What on Earth Publishing is thrilled to partner with Encyclopaedia Britannica. With Britannica Books, we have a unique opportunity to bring the traditions of 250 years of information sharing about everything under (and including) the sun to a new generation of children – the adults of the future. Our books will contain between their covers the magic and diversity of reality and an invitation to explore and to question. In these days of fake news, we are delighted to be creating books that are not only informative and fun, but rigorously honest about what we know and open about what we don’t.”
The imprint will be led by What on Earth’s publisher, Nancy Feresten, and Executive Editor Natalie Bellos, who will join the company from Bloomsbury this October.
