Big congratulations to Nathan Dunleavy, Sebastian Ruiz and Xander Evans for their fantastic entries into the November book club competition ‘It’s Extinct’
We invited What on Earth? Book Club members to send in a drawing of any extinct animal that once roamed the plains, flew in the skies or swam in the oceans of Planet Earth along with some facts about them.
Nathan, aged 10, sent us this terrifying drawing of a Smilodon.
He told us: “The Smiloden lived 2 million years ago and ate hairy thick-skinned animals,
for example horses, bison and Mastodons (hairy elephants).”
Sebastian, aged 9, sent us this beautifully detailed drawing of a Glyptodont
He says: “The Glyptodont is a mammal and is a herbivore (eats plant life).
They lived in the Ice Age during the Pleistocene between 2 million and 10,000 years ago.”

He told us: “The Diplodocus lived in the Jurassic times. It was a vegetarian.”
Each of our winners will receive a personalised t-shirt featuring the scariest dinosaur of all – the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
