Archer W.: Sarah, you reported from an eclipse. What did it feel like?
Sarah Kaplan: You’re looking up at the sky and there’s just this black hole in the center of it surrounded by these streaming plumes of light. You feel the world go dark around you, and here the insects start chirping like it’s evening. I just remember the first time I had that experience, like, my legs went weak and it felt like there was, like, seltzer in my veins. I was just, like, full of bubbles and excitement. It’s, like, both deeply unsettling and profoundly inspiring. Yeah, it’s amazing.
Archer W.: Thank you, Sarah. That was Sarah Kaplan from the newsroom of The Washington Post.
