What on Earth Publishing’s ground-breaking series of fold-out timelines – The Timeline Collection – yesterday won the prestigious gold medal in the Parent’s Choice Foundation non-fiction children’s book awards.
The awards, established in 1978, are one of the most highly respected in the country.
“Educational innovation that really works should count for something in this age of insufferable sequels and copycat creativity, ” said awards adjudicator Don Oldenburg, “It undeniably does when it comes to this “What On Earth?” series of head-first, highly inventive, timeline-based books created by best-selling author Christopher Lloyd…”
Oldenburg went on to describe the thee title collection as ‘The perfect gift box set of three high-quality hardbacks..”
‘You’ll find yourself and your kids locked in on these glossy-paged timelines scouring for the next fascinating tidbit, and the next after that. This cool educational tool will allure young readers with the fun of discovering what happened during the millions of years that came before they did.”
Christopher Lloyd, author and founder of What on Earth Publishing, said winning the awards was a huge accolade for the What on Earth team who are now rolling out the concept across many other subject areas, soon to include the first state history, Illinois, due to the published as The Illinois Chronicles in February next year.
“Parents, teachers and kids alike can get so much from taking a step back, connecting knowledge together and seeing the big picture. It is wonderful to see our approach to championing non fiction as far cooler than anything you can make up being recognised in this way,” he said.
What on Earth’s Shakespeare Timeline Wallbook also won a Gold Medal in the category – see separate news story here for more details.
